Podium
Tom Ingram claimed a commanding victory in Race 3 of the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone Circuit, Towcester, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, 27 September 2026. Ingram, driving the Team VERTU Hyundai i30N, crossed the line in a total race time of 23 minutes and 26.055 seconds to take the top step of the podium. Ashley Sutton finished second, with Aiden Moffat completing the podium in third place to round out a closely contested encounter in difficult conditions.
Starting from the reversed-grid front row, Ingram managed the heavily soaked circuit with considerable composure throughout the race, ultimately finishing more than four seconds clear of Sutton. The newly crowned five-time BTCC Champion Sutton produced a notable drive of his own, charging through from ninth on the grid to claim second place despite operating with heavily restricted hybrid boost, crossing the line 4.123 seconds behind the winner. Moffat, who had taken victory in Race 1 earlier in the day, secured third place at a gap of 11.312 seconds from Ingram, with Gordon Shedden pressing him hard in fourth, separated from Moffat by just 0.309 seconds at the flag.
Dan Cammish brought his car home in fifth place, finishing 14.150 seconds adrift of Ingram, while Tom Chilton took sixth, separated from Cammish by 1.757 seconds. Josh Cook crossed the line seventh, just 0.087 seconds behind Chilton in a closely fought battle for that position. Árón Taylor-Smith rounded out a competitive midfield group in eighth, finishing 16.712 seconds behind the race winner, with Daniel Rowbottom and Adam Morgan completing the top ten in ninth and tenth respectively, the latter finishing 20.228 seconds behind Ingram.
The result represented a significant moment for Ingram and Team VERTU Hyundai, with the victory underlining the team’s capacity to perform at the front of the field in challenging wet-weather conditions. Sutton’s second-place finish, achieved despite the limitations placed upon his hybrid system, further demonstrated the championship-winning calibre that has defined his 2026 campaign. With the season continuing to develop, both Ingram and Sutton will be expected to carry considerable momentum into the remaining rounds of the championship as the title picture continues to take shape.
