Two gymnasts from Dover Gymnastics Club have been selected for the Bronze national team after the club’s squad won the South East Bronze team trophy at the South East Regionals.
The competition was held at Guildford Spectrum on 26 and 27 September 2026, the club said.
Iris Shrubsole, 11, finished third overall and first on beam. Freya Geering, 14, finished second overall and second on floor. Both have been selected for the Bronze national team.
‘The first time in more than ten years’
Head coach Nadia Jeffrey said: “We’re thrilled to have two gymnasts selected for the Bronze Team at national finals — the first time in more than ten years that Dover Gymnastics Club has earned national team places.
“It’s especially exciting to see Iris return for her second national finals after qualifying last year. This achievement reflects the dedication of our gymnasts, coaches, and the supportive community around them.”
About the club
The club says it was founded 50 years ago and now has more than 400 members, who train at its purpose-built facility in Poulton Close, Dover. Its equipment includes a full-size floor, two sets of bars, four beams, a vault, a fast track and a trampoline, which the club says have recently been upgraded.
Pictured with the regional team trophy are Freya Geering, 14, Iris Shrubsole, 11, Zoe Cliffton-Dey, 16, Jazmin Amer, 14, and Amber Andrews, 13. The club confirmed that a parent or guardian of each gymnast agreed to the photograph and their names being published.
